Leahy’s was inspirational for a lot of writers, artists, and musicians like Charlie Musselwhite. He wrote in the liner notes of his 2002 album One Night in America

Where I grew up, if I went out the back gate I was in Leahy’s Trailer Court. I had a lot of friends there and hung out there a lot. Itinerant-type people were always passing through. There were carnival people, too. And there was a lot of music. Growing up in Memphis. I had people like Johnny and Dorsey Burnette across the street, and Dusty Rhodes around the corner. I used to see Johnny Cash driving by all the time in his Thunderbird.

Musselwhite and Ben Harper recently performed on The Queen Latifah Show and it was amazing. Here’s the video for your enjoyment!
